AdventureEXE.com FAQ

Here you can find some of the more frequently asked questions about this blog, most of which have either never been asked once or I’m imagining they’re exactly the kind of question someone might frequently ask, though obviously not the same person. That’d just be odd.

What is this blog about?

This blog is my journey through approximately 7,600* games catalogued in the eXoDOS catalogue. Using that rough estimate of 7,600 games, even if I played 1 game a day, it would take approximately 20 years to play through the whole collection. So, either I’m going to get bored doing this or I’m in it for the long haul. I also don’t plan on or intend to play a game every day for the next 20 years from this collection – who knows maybe I’ll play more?

*Note – whilst the collection has around 7,600 games, I’m not going to be considering them all for this…mission…quest thing.

And who are you?

Just a guy in his 40s who loves computer games, especially some of the classics from the early to late DOS era.

What is eXoDOS?

eXoDOS is a valiant attempt at cataloguing every game that was ever made for the DOS platform. The creators have done a wonderful job at packaging it up in a easy to download .torrent file, either in a Lite version where subsequent games are downloaded or the full shebang where you have everything you need at less than a terabyte. You can find out a lot more here.

So what games won’t you play?

I’m not going to play any of the adult themed games, whilst I have no major moral objection to them, they mostly just look rubbish. It’s also unlikely I’ll play through the many many homebrew text adventures, but I’m not going to rule that out.

Is there an order you intend to do this?

No, not really. Chronologically would make sense but I guess it’ll just be a semi-random ‘whatever tickles me fancy to blog this game’ selection.

Cool, how can I support you?

Really, just by commenting or sharing I guess. Maybe longer term I’ll do a patreon or vlog or some ko-fi link to throw a few buckeroos my direction but I’m really just doing it for the fun?

But wait, I have another question!

Great, but that isn’t a question. As I think of more and more questions they’ll get added here.
